2011 Triggers
Goal is to study the 2011 lepton triggers and their effect on our cut flow. Efficiencies versus eta, pt, phi.
To do:
- Previous studies ? Reproduce 2010 results with data and some MC signal. 2010 main data trigger: e15_medium
- Start with electrons, tools from egamma Electron triggers changing trigger cut thresholds can be reproduced from D3PDs using the egamma trigger tools: https://twiki.cern.ch/twiki/bin/viewauth/Atlas/TrigHypoCutTools
- Study offline to electron trigger object matching
- Trigger notation L1 -> 1st level trigger (hardware) L2 -> 2nd level trigger (software, part of High Level Trigger (HLT) together with EF EF -> Event Filter, 3rd level trigger (software, part of HLT, code as similar to offline at possible) Ex.: e20_medium e -> electron 20 -> minimum Et trigger threshold required at EF (EF= Event Filter, 3rd trigger level) medium -> EF cuts are the same than for offline electron IsEM medium identification. As a rule of thumb plateau is reached ~5GeV above the trigger cut.
- e20_medium: Medium definition has changed with respect to 2011, 30% higher rejection. Trigger selection will be tightened with increasing luminosity (for sure after peak luminosity goes above ~1e33) the so-called: e20_medium1 or e20_medium_tight, the specific thresholds to be used in this trigger are not yet defined, we could provide input on the prefered/disliked cut tightening.
- 2e12_medium It should be kept unprescaled through whole 2011 data taking
