Predictions

automatically extracted by new scannng script and put into pl057

Loogbook

Start: 29.07.2008

Follow the scanning tutorial

Problems with the new scanning scripts - mail to luca.

tune microscope: load pl57 - tune light, refresh flat field

Install new fedra 852 -> problem solved!

follow script...

part1 - step 4: before load brick, adapt the plate changer status file.

remove the second line when there is one in the bBRICK.map file

Problem with load(FIRST_PLATE) - does not work. stages moves but immediately goes to 2nd / 3rd /... attempt

RESTART

change ChangerStatus.txt file: brick number must have only the four last digits

continue with part 1 step 3...

remove 4th mark created in the bBRICK.map file (check that only one line)

check light (in middle of top layer)

make test and configure (on top of the plastic base) ... adjust thresholds accordingly (should have 1500-1600 clusters)

measure coners and marks (manual checks):

Top-Right position:
corner_minx = 703
corner_miny = 37
Bottom-Left position:
corner_maxx = 125600
corner_maxy = 99468
1st mark (10000, 10000)
mark1_x = 10632
mark2_y = 10268
2nd mark (10000, 90000)
mark2_x = 10573
mark2_y = 90313
3rd mark (115000, 90000)
mark3_x = 115667
mark3_y = 90524

create_mapfile()

go to part 2...

modify some part of the script (setParamteters... set FragmentSize)

adjust light level (exposure time of camera respectively) and make new flat field

  • 30/07/08 afternoon : Add 1 prediction to the official one which seems to be the muon (X=53644, Y=17006, TX=0.104, TY=0.0432)

Try to search predictions on plate 56 But : fedra problem, light problem on MIC1, focus problem (surface damaged)

  • 31/07/08 : On MIC1, the light has been changed (light level checked and new flat field made)

Check the Field Threshold Equalization

LIGHT UNSTABLE

RESTART ON MIC3

  • 04/08/08 : We start from scratch on MIC3

Emulsions are very sticky and the surface are damaged Some problems to found the optical marks Sysal crashes very often when "unload current emulsion"

  • 05/08/08 : Track with the ID=3 from the CS has not been found on plate 57 BUT near be eyes found a BT (X=53644;Y=17006;TX=0.104; TY=0.0432) --> Modified the pred scan result on plate 57 in order to follow this prediction found by eyes instead of CS pred ID=3.

Some problem to align plate 56 & 57 -> Scan a bigger area 7000.*2*7000.*2 and align with DZ=-1622.92

  • 06/08/08 : Prediction found be eyes still alive (plate 21)

Problem with plate 32 : cannot align pl32->pl33 & pl31->pl32 Skip this plate and make align pl31 -> pl33 : No problem

PROBLEM SOLVED : Optical marks are displaced 2 mm in X and 2 mm in Y compared to plate 33 -> Try with Offset=4000. and OK

  • 07/08/08 : Alignment problem with plate 8 & 7

-> scan a bigger area 7000.*2*7000.*2. instead of 4000.*2*4000.*2 -> OK

Predictions scan stops at plate 5 !

  • TotalScan from Pl 16 to Pl 4
  • 12/08/08 : 1cm2 has been scanned from Pl4 to Pl 57

1 track attached to the vertex (muon) stoppes at plate 56

Some PLots

ScanForth

TotalScan 1cm2 done from Pl5 to Pl57 (id=1000, version=3)

Vextex has 5 prong :

Problems

0) Debug the new scanning script :-)

1) Very very very sticky emulsions

2) Surface damaged : Emulsions were not dry enough (after 2.5 days drying @ Gran Sasso) and damaged done by separator

3) Light unstable on MIC1 --> use MIC3

4) Some problems to found the optical marks on MIC3

5) Sysal (maybe due to the stage) crashes when "Unload current emulsion" on MIC3 but no problem if plate is unloaded with the scanning script

6) Problem to align Plate 56 to 57 Succeed by increasing the intercalibration area and with a DZ=-1622.92

7) On Plate 32 optical marks are shifted (~2mm in X and ~2 mm in Y) compared to plate 33
