Introduction

This manuscript is useful to know all steps should be followed in scan back and total scan. Description will be in the form of two columns. On the left side there are steps to be done, on the right side there are more details and comments on problems can happen or errors should be avoided.

We can divide the work generally into these steps:

  • Brick unpacking.
  • Scanback
- Create the new brick folder.
- Create the map file (marks and corners).
- Light and Cutoff measurement.
- Start Scanback.
- Finish Scanback (how to judge that we have a stopping point?).
- Notes
  • Total scan

Shifter is kindly requested to respect the following shift-rules in order to increase the work efficiency.

  • Shift time is as the following:

14h00 --> 18h00 (afternoon shift)
Wednesday: 09h00 --> 13h00 (morning shift)
13h00 --> 14h00 (lunch time)
From 14h00 : OPERA internal meeting
From after meeting --> 18h30 (afternoon shift)
  • The time 09h00 --> 09h15 is dedicated for microscopes and pc’s cleaning
  • On Mond, Wed, Frid stage glass should be cleaned using the chemical liquid as the following:

- Wait 10 minutes
- Clean the glass using a semi-dry paper (put some drop of water on the paper).
  • Shifter should not spend lot of time in other activity not related with shift like long phones orinternet use (quick check of mails is OK).
  • In case of requested job was finished, and shifter has nothing to do, then he is requested to ask the shift coordinator what to do (do not waste the time!!!).

Brick unpacking

Unpack the brick means prepare it for scanning.

Use the unpacking box to put emulsion plates inside. Go from plate N° 1 to plate N° 57. A plastic separator must be interposed between each two emulsions as the following:
